The following is a statement we posted after September 11th, 2001.

Many things have changed since that day.

The sentiments expressed at that time .... have not.

.

We would like to express our deepest sympathy for those lives lost, and their loved ones whose lives have been so drastically altered by this week's disaster.  There is comfort and pride to be found in the stories emerging from the debris about individual acts of courage and heroism.

But the true heroes now are the men and women who have worked from the beginning of this disaster, and who continue to push themselves beyond normal limits in their efforts to rescue those who may still be alive, and treat those injured by it.  The outpouring of support from other countries, some of which are not always our best of friends, is heartwarming.  May they become our allies in our war against this terrorism.

The American people pull together in times of trouble, and this has not been an exception.  All over this country people who are not directly affected by this disaster are offering help, blood, dollars and prayers to those who are.  I have gone though the emotions of shock, disbelief, horror and anger.  After watching the events of this disaster unfold, I also feel the emotion of pride.  Pride in my fellow man.  Proud to be an American.

May God have mercy on the souls of those who died.

May God bring comfort and peace to their families and friends.

May God bless this nation we call... America.
