SUNFLOWER GUN CLUB - URGENT MEMORANDUM

To:  the Membership

From:  the Board of Directors

.

Subject: The board of directors is requesting all members to use caution when using the range to reduce the incidences of collateral damage to our buildings and equipment from unintended ricochets. We would like to take this opportunity to clarify the club regulations regarding target placement and the use of both the rifle and pistol benches.

.

Pistol Range – 50 yards

Targets may be placed at the 50 yard back stop or closer provided that any targets placed between the back stop and the benches are elevated above the ground sufficiently so that the projectile, when fired, impacts the back stop and can not hit the ground. (No concrete blocks or other solid structure allowed between the bench and the back stop that could contribute to a ricochet.) Please clean up any and all debris or trash you brought out with you to help keep our range clean for all the members. Please do not place non-burnable refuse in the barrels; these are intended for paper byproducts.

So far the majority of damage has been seen on the pistol range. This ricochet damage is caused by projectile contact with the ground in front of the skeet house.  Please also remind any of your guests to be careful when firing not to inadvertently fire into one of the buildings. The new equipment in these houses is delicate and costly to repair or replace.

.

Rifle Range – 100 yards

ALL targets must be placed just in front of the one hundred yard back stop.

NO target placement between the bench and the back stop is allowed.

.

Please remember that no shooting is allowed if the land owner is working in the field!
